Salted Caramel

Salted Caramel is seemingly the ingredient of the moment, wouldn't you agree? And who am I to fault it, with its contradicting flavours that go so well together. 

After watching GBBO last week and deciding I'd do a 'bake along' with one recipe per week, I knew that my first bake had to include me having a go at making some salted caramel. Having never made caramel before, I was a little nervous, but it turned out amazingly and was actually one of the easiest foods I've ever made.

I found the recipe here, after looking at a few different variations. I'm not going to lie, at one point I thought the sugar was burning, because it surely smelled that way but before deciding to start again I carried on and much to my surprise it all ended well.

And making this caramel successfully, without any hiccups gave me a much needed baking boost after a few less than desirable bakes, that had left me with baking insecurities #firstworldproblems ! 

So here I am breaking down the caramel barriers, it's not hard to do, despite popular belief and the rewards are plentiful!
